THE FIRST AGRICULTURAL SPP PROJECT OF TÜRKİYE INAUGURATED IN ANKARA

ARDSI President Dr. Ahmet Antalyalı attended the inauguration ceremony of the first agricultural solar power plant project of Türkiye, which was built in the Ayaş District of Ankara.

The Project materialized in cooperation with METU Center for Solar Energy Research and Applications, a local farmer from Ayaş District, Ayaş District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and Ankara Development Agency aims to generate power using amplified photovoltaic solar panels and run the agricultural operations simultaneously. The project targets the highest level of efficiency per unit area. The efficiency is increased by approximately158% thanks to the simultaneous use of the land both for agricultural and power generation purposes.

Bifacial panel technology was applied on the land equipped with total installed power of 122 kilowatt peak (kWp).

The plant was designed featuring a 3,5 meters high power station and uniaxial solar tracker panels placed facing east and west.

The Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Çetin Ali Dönmez remarked that the Ayaş Agricultural SPP project is a model project and a milestone as the first solar tracker SPP built on an agricultural land in Türkiye and that similar projects are going to be realized in Bursa and Kayseri as well.

The Research Group of METU Center for Solar Energy Research and Applications that run the project was invited to ARDSI to discuss options for joint activities in the future.
